Source calibration of an acoustic probe allows the measurement of acoustic impedance of any load the probe is presented to. The impedance and reflection coefficient measured in an ear canal can provide diagnostic information about the conductive capabilities of the middle ear. This presentation will give an overview of an Industrial PhD project investigating improvements and new approaches in the calibration and measurement of acoustic impedance. The presentation will cover current methodologies in acoustic source calibration and impedance measurements, their limitations and the motivation for this project. Furthermore, some preliminary findings and planned investigations will be presented.
