CAMM: Centre for Acoustic Mechanical Micro Systems hold their first presentation day on Friday 12th December 2014

Despite the wet and windy weather outside and the threat of a storm on the horizon, CAMM held their first presentation day last Friday afternoon. Guests were welcomed with warm drinks and generous slices of homemade cake and centre leader Jakob Søndergaard Jensen introduced the afternoons program and spoke about the recent activities at the CAMM centre.

Guests included colleagues from DTU's Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Departments as well as representatives from a number of companies including GN Resound, Oticon and Widex.

The purpose of the presentation day was to introduce CAMM's faculty members to their industrial partners and to highlight CAMMs capabilities in the different scientific areas.  CAMM, who will be celebrating their one year anniversary in January 2015, have had a busy and successful year and as Aminul Islam explains "the presentation day gave us a chance to organise our thoughts on our future activities and to define our roles in the CAMM centre. The chance to meet many new people was also extremely helpful for the future activites within CAMM. The day made it possible for industrial guests to form a clear idea about CAMM's capabilities and to know who to contact in the future when they need support from us"

""This combination of different areas of expertise will lead to exciting new results." "
Vicente Cutanda Henríquez

Through the presentations given by Niels Aage, Vicente Cutanda Henriquez, Aminul Islam and Junghwan Kook, guests  were given a deeper understanding into CAMMs interests which include micro acoustics, shape and topology optimization, micro manufacturing and advanced materials. Guests were also given an insight into DTUs capabilities in the area of plastic processing and additive manufacturing.

Vicente from CAMM found the presentation day very useful and was pleased to have the opportunity to mingle with his new colleagues and many of the other participants. "It was nice to meet Karsten Bo Rasmussen from Oticon again and I believe him to be very supportive of CAMM".  Vicente, who will be starting his job at CAMM in January, felt that the day was a very important one for him and an occasion to get to know about his future colleagues backgrounds and work. "I believe they did great presentations and caused a very good impression on the audience and I am sure many of the attendants, like me, are already reflecting on the new possibilities and projects. This combination of different areas of expertise will lead to exciting new results." continues Vicente who is  really looking forward to being part of CAMM's everyday work and with getting acquinted with work already done and contributing to new developments.

After the presentations and the numerous breaks where participants were served refreshments and given the opportunity to network and mingle with each other, there was a tour of the plastic lab and fablab facilities.
