Cheol-Ho Jeong and Vicente Cutanda Henriquez from DTU's Department of Electrical Engineering attended the ICSV24 (24th international congress on sound and vibration) at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel, London.
Cheol-Ho Jeong from the Acoustic Technology Group (ACT) chaired a session entitled "Surface materials: absorption and scattering in room acoustics". Here he also presented a paper on predicting the Sabine absorption coefficients of air-backed fibrous materials.
Vicente Cutanda Henriquez from Centre for Acoustic-Mechanical Micro Systems (CAMM) presented an invited paper to the session on acoustic metamaterials and phonic crystals, entitled "Numerical models of single- and double-negative metamaterials including viscous and thermal losses". His co-author was José Sanchez-Dehesa from the Universitat Politécnica de Valéncia.
Charlotte Hauervig-Jørgensen from DTU Byg also presented a paper on "Subjective and objective evaluation of the acoustic and indoor climate conditions in video conferencing rooms", co-authored by Cheol-Ho Jeong, Jørn Toftum (DTU Civil Engineering) and Emine Christensen (Rambøll) in a session "Open Plan Offices". Charlotte's travel was partly supported by the Danish Acoustical Society's DAS fund.
Acoustic Technology student Aikaterini Stogiannou, who had just successfully finished her MSc defense 2 weeks previous to the congress, participated as a voluntary assistant. Aikaterini helped out with all arising practicalities at the sessions and at the registration desk.
