Daniel G. Nielsen (DTU) presents 'Adjoint sensitivity analysis for mechanical parameters in acoustic-mechanical coupled FE problems'

Similar material choices are made for many commercial loudspeakers, these choices are good choices, but are they optimal? In our quest to find the optimal material configurations in loudspeakers a gradient based distributed parameter optimization is used. The design algorithm is allowed to change a single parameter (alpha) in each element. Alpha describes a linear relationship between element stiffness and element mass. The purpose is to find and optimal configuration of element parameters to satisfy certain objective functions. The presentation mainly concerns the derivation and implementation of the discrete adjoint design sensitivities which are a crucial part of gradient based optimization techniques.
